Many Nebraskans make an annual trip across state lines to find fireworks that give a bigger bang for the buck. But Ray Nance, a spokesman for the State Fire Marshal’s office, says checkpoints are being set up to catch you. Nance says there is a fine for bringing fireworks across the border, even if they are legal in Nebraska. And if the fireworks are not allowed in the state, there is an additional fine.
In Nebraska, fountains, smoke bombs, and sparklers are legal. But here are some things you should know:
- Firecrackers are legal - as long as they contain no more than 50 milligrams of explosives.
- Things like cherry bombs and inch-and-a-halfers are not legal.
- Artillery shells are legal - but there are some restrictions. Packages can’t have more than six shells in them… And the tubes must be thinner than 2 inches.
- Illegal bottle rockets are confiscated the most in nebraska.
- And roman candles are legal, but they must be stuck in the ground with a spike.

It has been a month since the Café closed their doors and some have looked at this as an opportunity. The Close-Up group is planning a trip to Washington DC next summer and this seems like the perfect opportunity to raise some funds. They are serving coffee and snacks from 8:00 am till 10:00 am on Monday through Wednesday.
